Animal Crossing Pocket Camp

If you play Animal Crossing, you've probably always wished you could bring your pals with you on your iPhone or Android device. Well, I've got good news for you. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is just that — caring for your animal friends on the go! In this world, your fluffy friends are camping and it's your job to make sure they have everything they need while enjoying the great outdoors. Here's everything you need to know about Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

What's new in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

April 20, 2018: Host the Most invites new animals and a new theme - Elegant!

Whitney, Colton, and Muffy

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp have a new set of animals that want to join the camping fun. Not only are there now five new animal friends, but there is also a brand new theme; Elegant! A new theme brings with it new craftable items, like a fancy tea set, rococo table, regal bed, and more. Of course, a new theme also means new amenities. You can build an Elegant Fountain! The six new animals added to the game are as follows:

  • Whitney
  • Colton
  • Muffy
  • Julia
  • Pierce
  • Tia

Remember, all of these animals are of the Eleganat theme.

To celebrate the addition of these animals, Nintendo is running the Host with the Most event again, which means there are timed goals that reward Elegant essence when you invite four new animals to your Campsite. The Host the Most event is only five days long, ending April 25, so you'd better get out there and help some campers!

April 17, 2018: Update version 1.4 brings new features, new bugs and fish, and a whole lot of interface changes!

Nintendo's latest point update should have been called a full number update with all of the new features and changes made to the user interface. There are two big features, a few new gathering items, and a lot of little changes to the way we interact with the game that makes me, for one, very very happy.

  • Tommy's Fortune Cookie Shop - The biggest new feature is Tommy's Fortune Cookie Shop, which rewards you with dozens of exclusive items that can only be found in one of these fresh-baked goodies. Here's how to get fortune cookies.
  • Scrapbook Memories - Another big addition is that there are now fun memories between campers that you can view. You'll need to host certain animals at your campsite that have reached a minimum friendship level. When you do, you can visit the Scrapbook section under the More tab to see the memories unfold. Some memories can only be unlocked by having special exclusive items that are only found in rare fortune cookies. Here's how to unlock those memories.
  • New bugs, fish, and perfect fruit - There are now four new fishes, two new bugs, and special "perfect fruit" found around your campground. Perfect fruit hangs from the same trees, but are special rare fruits that you can give to campers for special requests.
  • New ways campers request items - Speaking of special requests, there's a new way that campers will ask for your help. Sometimes, they'll ask you to help them pick out a piece of furniture to give to another camper, or ask you to suggest a good fishing spot, or even ask you to pick an item from your inventory to give them. The last one provides the opportunity for you to earn snacks and even fortune cookies as rewards.
  • Lots of new Push notifications - Nintendo has made notifications actually useful! You can enable or disable the ability to receive notifications for login bonuses, when a crafted item is finished, when Gulliver's ship returns, when new fortune cookies are available, when the Market Box refreshes, when enough friends have helped you to enter the quarry, when the quarry cycle changes, and when friends are available for sharing.
  • UI changes - It's the little things that count, like the fact that when you gather an item, it'll show you how many of them you already have in your inventory, or how crafting items are sorted now, or how your Items section is listed first in your inventory, or how the Craft tab automatically opens to your Favorited furniture items so they're easier to find when you want to make more. These user interface updates have made me a happy girl.

There's even more to uncover as you play the game. For the next nine days, you'll receive special items for logging in, like rare, expensive character fortune cookies and Leaf Tickets. Welcome to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp version 1.4!

April 10, 2018: Gulliver has arrived at Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp to trade snacks for your extra furniture

Gulliver trades you snacks for furniture

You can now head on over to Sunburst Island and talk to Gulliver to trade your extra furniture for very special snacks, which you can then give to campers hanging around your campground to increase their Friendship level.

When you trade furniture, Gulliver will gladly take it and head to the next trade island. After a few minutes, he'll return to Sunburst Island, where you can collect the goods he got in trade. Your payment comes in the form of tasty snacks, like doughnuts, candy bars, popcorn, lollipops, and other sweet treats.

Offer snacks to campers in the campgrounds to make them like you. You'll get one point increase in Friendship level for each snack you give to an animal.

This new feature comes at a great time when players are running out of things to craft. You can now use up all your piles of crafting materials to make spare chairs to exchange for something that will help your relationship with your animal friends!

March 10, 2018: It's Mario Day! Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp celebrates with a Super Mario Crossover event!

March 10 is Mario day and Nintendo is celebrating its most popular game character with a special event in the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp world. For the next 30 days, you'll be able to collect and craft dozens of iconic Super Mario items, like gold coins, brick and prize blocks, and much more. Collect mushrooms from visiting animals to craft your Mario outfit (including the nose and 'stache), Koopa Troopa shells, and other items to make your Campsite look like the Mushroom Kingdom. This event is very similar to previous events, like the Crystal Collection event, the New Years event, and the Winter Sports event, but collectable items roll out in three rounds of 10 days each. You should have plenty of time to get all of the items you want (with multiples of the cutest ones), but start now if you want to make sure you have all the furniture you need to craft your Campsite exactly the way you want!

February 21, 2018: You can now change the landscape of your Campground in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

If you've been wishing for a different view around your Campground in ACPC, today is your lucky day. You can now change the foreground, middle ground, and deck of your Campground. Want a lake view? Get rid of those trees? Hoping for some color? Add a floral landscape. Holidays coming? Put up a string of lights. Some backgrounds are free, while others require either materials (like wood), Bells, or Leaf Tickets.

To change your Campground's landscape, go to your Campground and tap the grid icon. Then, select the background icon (it looks like two trees) to access the available changes.

Experiment with new looks and even get a preview of what your Campground will look like during different seasons. Get a different look for every time of the year!

February 16, 2018: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Crystal Collection event is here!

Just on the heels of getting five new friends in our campground, we're back in the mix with a new winter-themed event. Collect Crystal Shards and craft sparkly furniture to make your Campsite shine. You can even turn your player character into a Snow Princess. It's got all the same rules as the Winter Sports event and the New Year's event, but in case you're new to the ACPC world, we've updated our event guide to help you out.

February 14, 2018: Host the Most event brings five new animal friends to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

Your campground is getting more popular every day. Five new animals have heard about how fun you've made your Campsite and have come to check it out. These five new animal friends cover a variety of theme preferences, but they also have a few new items they want to see. The five new animals added to the game are as follows:

  • Dotty - Natural
  • Octavian - Hip
  • Eugene - Cool
  • Fuchsia - Cool
  • Freya - Cool

To celebrate the addition of these animals, Nintendo is running the Host with the Most event again, which means there are stretch goals that reward Request Cards and Leaf Tickets when you invite one, two, and three new animals to your Campsite. The Host the Most event is only seven days long, ending February 10, so you'd better get out there and help some campers!

February 13, 2018: Update 1.2.0 brings villager clothing and Brake Tapper mini-game!

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp just received another big update. This one brings with it a few new major features plus a plethora of minor changes.

  • Animal Clothing - You can now share some of your clothing with your animal friends. Animals have to reach a certain level before you can change their outfits. Not all animals need a change of clothing and some items can't be used on certain animals. Changing an animal's outfit will sometimes increase their Friendship level.
  • Two rugs are better than one - You can finally put down two rugs at your Campsite instead of just one at a time.
  • New mini game - Head on over to OK Motors to play a slot machine style game and see what you win. Winners are rewarded with Caps, which can be used to exchange for in-game prices. Head over past the right of your camper when you visit OK Motors and tap the Brake Tapper to play a game. Each game costs 3 Friend Powder. Winnings will normally yield 5 Caps, but you could win big with up to 50 Caps. When you've earned some caps, talk to Carlo to exchange them for crafting materials, essence, and even exclusive OK Motors merchandise.
  • New way to add friends IRL - You can add friends that you're standing next to by sending a tune. When your friend receives the little ditty and accepts your friend request, you're in like Flynn!
  • Shovelstrike Quarry is easier to get in to - A minor update makes it possible for you to ask up to 10 friends at once with just a single tap. Just Ask for Help!
  • New conversations - There are new conversations to be had with visiting animals. Let's hope they stop calling us a "fan" or "slacker."
  • New requests - Animals will now ask for flowers as part of their requests. Looks like you'd better get back into gardening.
  • Skip Requests - If you don't have the items an animal wants, you can now skip a request. You can't skip the last request, though.

January 22, 2018: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Winter Sports event is here!

On the exact closing day of Rover's Garden Safari event, a new reason to keep camping has arrived. Starting Jan. 21 at midnight ET, players were presented with the latest bit of fun — the Winter Sports event. In this go-around, players collect Snowflakes to craft adorable figure-skating and snowboarding outfits. Plus, you can add an ice rink and snowboard ramp to your Campground. January 18, 2018: Craft your own outfit with the new clothing crafting feature in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

There's been an empty tab since the game launched. Crafting clothing was on the horizon, but not yet available... until now. Thanks to an overnight update, the clothing craft tab is now up and running. The best thing is that crafting an outfit is just as easy as crafting furniture. Right now, all of the clothing items require either paper or cotton (except glasses, which require steel), and don't really need that much material. Most of then call for 15 - 30 of one or the other. There are a few "high price ticket" items that require 60 cotton, but that's the most expensive it gets.

To get started making your perfect outfit, go to the Crafting tab, then select the T-shirt icon to see everything you can create and wear.

There's also a couple of timed goals relating to clothing crafting, but they're pretty easy to complete. Craft one item for five Leaf Tickets and craft three items for five more Leaf Tickets. In the Stretch Goals section, you'll note that crafting clothing has been added to the list, too. Craft one clothing item for 20 paper and craft five clothing items for five Leaf Tickets.

January 11, 2018: Rover's Garden Safari event comes to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

There's a new winter event sitting in your garden right now. Rover's Garden Safari event runs from January 11 - January 21. Collect a certain number of them to earn exclusive furniture from Rover. Trade your harvested dahlias in to Lloid in exchange for crafting materials. The event is only 10 days long, so you'd better start planting!

January 6, 2018: New animals come to Animal Crossing Pocket Camp

This time, there isn't any timed goals in the Host the Most event. You will, however, earn extra happiness points for your friendship levels between January 6 and 12. Be sure to welcome Sprinkle, Ava, Boots, and Static by leveling up your friendships with them and crafting the items they want to see in your Campsite.

December 26, 2017: New Year's Event brings New Year's-theme craftable items and clothing!

As the current year draws to an end and the new year begins, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp welcomes the future with 10 new items plus two New-Year's themed outfits and a pair of sandals. Just like the holiday event, players collect Countdown Charms by completing requests from animals in the campground. You can craft the items using the Countdown Charms. The Haori, Kimono, and Kimono Sandals are rewards for completing timed goals within the event's timeframe, which is just 15 days long this time.

The New Year's Event runs December 25, 2017 at 12:00 AM ET through January 10, 2018 at 11:59 PM ET.

December 21, 2017: Host the Most invites new animals and a new theme- Rustic!

Vesta, Avery, and Marshal

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp players woke up (or stayed up late enough) to see a new set of animals that want to join the camping fun. Not only are there now seven (yes, seven!) new animal friends, but there is also a brand new theme; Rustic! A new theme brings with it new craftable items, like a cowhide rug and brick fireplace. There's even a covered wagon! Of course, a new theme also means new amenities. You can build a rustic tent and follow it up with a canvas hammock, and then a hot air balloon! The seven new animals added to the game are as follows:

  • Marshal
  • Mitzi
  • Goose
  • Drake
  • June
  • Avery
  • Vesta

Remember, all of these animals are of the Rustic theme.

To celebrate the addition of these animals, Nintendo is running the Host with the Most event again, which means extra happiness points whenever you complete requests for any animal in the campground. Stretch goals this time go up to seven new animals hosted at your site. You can earn up to 30 Leaf Tickets for your effort. The Host the Most event is only seven days long, so you'd better get out there and help some campers!

December 18, 2017: Update 1.1.0 brings gardening!

Animal Crossing: Pocket camp has been updated with some new content, the biggest being that gardening has been added to the things you can do in your Campsite. It's off to the left of your camper. After talking to Isabelle, you'll be directed to get some help from Lloid where he will help you get started with your garden. Grow flowers and cross-pollinate them to produce rare flowers. Trade those flowers to Lloid in exchange for items you can place in your Campsite.

How to get rare flowers in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

The update also added Screenshot mode so you can show off your Campsite layout, the rare fish you've caught, and other awesome things you can do.

There's also a new way to add friends. You can send a link instead of sharing your long, complicated code that doesn't even copy properly in text messages (thank goodness).

Most of the rest of the update covers minor user interface tweaks, like warning messages when you're about to craft something you already own or hints for how to obtain items.

The update is available now in the App Store.

November 20, 2017

Nintendo announced today through the official Animal Crossing Twitter account that the game will launch worldwide on Wednesday, Nov. 22. Just in time for Thanksgiving!

October 25, 2017

Nintendo has officially announced the existence of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. It's coming to iOS and Android "in November," but we don't have a specific launch date at this time. It seems to be available right now in Australia. If you're so inclined, you can download and play the game before it's officially launched in your country, but you have to do a little bit of "cheating" to get it. NintendoLife has a detailed guide for downloading Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp right now, but it's a complicated process. I suggest waiting. It'll probably be in your country really soon.

What is Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp?

Similar to its console counterpart, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a time-based simulation game where players act as a caretaker for a group of adorable animals. In the mobile spinoff, you're in charge of a campsite instead of a village.

You play a campsite manager whose job it is to create the ideal "glamping" spot for your animal friends. As you perform tasks around the campground, like harvesting fruit and helping out visitors, you'll earn materials that you can take to the blacksmith to turn into cool furniture. The more decked out your campsite gets, the more animals will visit.

You'll also earn "leaf tickets" (and other items), which are in-game currency that can be used to speed up how long it takes to harvest items, finish tasks, craft items, and more.

How much does it cost?

That's an interesting question. It doesn't cost anything to download and install the game. It also doesn't cost anything to start playing the game. It is, however, the type of game that uses in-game currency, which you can use to speed up how often you can collect items, craft furniture, and more. So, for some, this free game might cause them to go bankrupt (my best friend already said she won't even download the game because she's afraid she'll spend her entire paycheck on it).

For the most part, you can casually play the entire game without feeling compelled to spend real money. There are times when you might want to skip the wait time and use items that help speed up growth processes and the like. Most items that speed things up cost Leaf Tickets, which aren't as fast to replenish as Bells. If you run out of Leaf Tickets, you might be hovering over that "Buy Now" button. Especially when it comes to getting character-themed fortune cookies within the time frame they're available. So far, I've spent less than $10 since it's launch in November 2017.

What devices can I play it on?

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is available on iOS and Android devices. As long as you sign in with your Nintendo Account, your game progress can be saved across devices.
